Just like the initial day in August, we're thrilled to offer our students the chance to build community while also getting a glimpse of all eight of their classes on the first day. In addition to attending each class, students will rotate through four breakouts, including one designated for lunch. Students can choose to bring their own lunch, purchase it from the cafeteria, or, for those with Open Campus privileges, leave campus. The remaining three breakouts will involve participating in a service project, listening to a speaker, and engaging in team-building activities.
Get Involved!!
Students, you still have time to join a club!
Most clubs can add new members all year long! Come visit Mrs. Repp in the Student Life Office, across from the cafeteria, to learn more. Check out the Student Activities Website here for a calendar of January club meetings!
Are you in need of Spirit wear? Check out our online store here. Orders ship directly to you!
Have a rising freshman?
The Class of 2028 is invited to our Open House event on January 18th, 2024 from 6:30-8:00pm to learn more about electives and getting involved at GCHS.

Semester 1 grades will be finalized on Tuesday, January 9, 2024; therefore, nothing viewed in PowerSchool or Schoology before that date is considered a final grade.
Report cards will be sent via School Messenger to caregivers and students by Friday, January 12th. If a student earns a grade of NC (No Credit) they will need to repeat the course for credit prior to moving forward to any other course that requires credit as a prerequisite.
Notifications can be set up for:

Detail Report Showing Assignment Scores for Each Class

Please watch this video for instructions on setting up notifications within the PowerSchool (Student and Parent Sign In).

Students will have their Open Campus privilege reinstated or revoked after first semester grades have been sent out and Rams Block schedules have been changed, scheduled for Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. The next OC grade review will be on Thursday, February 15th at 6:00pm.
In District 127, we consider the course selection process a fundamental aspect of our commitment to offering students the chance to explore their areas of interest and engage in authentic learning experiences. Starting with course selection for the 2024-2025 school year, students initiated their planning process using SchooLinks' Course Planner tool. This tool empowers students to visually map out their remaining high school years, encouraging future-focused thinking. Individual appointments between students, School Counselors and Case Managers (if applicable) begin in early December.
Learn more about the GCHS Course Selection process and specific dates for each grade level here.
If you have questions about the course selection process or what classes are best for your student and their pathway of interest, please contact your student's school counselor.
Interested in Service Projects?
As you saw above, we are having a special schedule on the first day back from winter break. All students will have a chance to make a service project for a good cause. See below! After January 8th, there will be extra supplies in the Student Life Office for any student to continue with any of the 4 options.
Club Highlight: Asian American Student Association
Thank you to our Asian American Student Association for hosting a table outside the cafeteria the last week of 1st Semester. All students could learn about the Filipino holiday tradition of making parols.
