In District 127, we consider the course selection process a fundamental aspect of our commitment to offering students the chance to explore their areas of interest and engage in authentic learning experiences. Starting with course selection for the 2024-2025 school year, students initiated their planning process using SchooLinks' Course Planner tool. This tool empowers students to visually map out their remaining high school years, encouraging future-focused thinking. Individual appointments between students, School Counselors and Case Managers (if applicable) begin in early December.

If you have questions about the course selection process or what classes are best for your student and their pathway of interest, please contact your student's school counselor.
Just like the initial day in August, we're thrilled to offer our students the chance to build community while also getting a glimpse of all eight of their classes on the first day. In addition to attending each class, students will rotate through four breakouts, including one designated for lunch. Students can choose to bring their own lunch, purchase it from the cafeteria, or, for those with Open Campus privileges, leave campus. The remaining three breakouts will involve participating in a service project, listening to a speaker, and engaging in team-building activities.
Have a rising freshman?
The Class of 2028 is invited to our Open House event on January 18th, 2024 from 6:30-8:00pm to learn more about electives and getting involved at GCHS. Formal invitation to all 8th grade families will be sent in the mail.
